Insurance

I am an out-of-network provider with all insurance companies. However, most insurance plans include out-of-network benefits. If you would like to use your insurance, I would be happy to file claims on your behalf or provide a superbill (an insurance specific receipt) so that you will receive reimbursement from your insurance company. Whether you get reimbursed and how much will depend on your specific plan, but often can cover 50-80% of your bill and in some cases will cover your bill 100%.

If you wish to go this route, you may want to contact your insurance by calling the number on the back of your card and ask a customer service rep about your out of network benefits.

Here are some questions you'll want to ask your insurance company before proceeding:

There are many reasons for not accepting insurance, probably too many to name here. Here are some of the benefits of seeing a therapist who is out of network. Not taking insurance means that I can keep a smaller caseload which allows me time to adequately reflect on you and your case and be more mentally, emotionally, and spiritually available to you. In addition, you will have more protections to your privacy, no restrictions to the duration and number of sessions, and more available treatment options to meet your needs.

Sliding Scale

While I set aside a few sliding scale spots, they get filled very quickly. When possible, I will try and find a way for us to work together that is manageable for all parties involved.

Free phone consultations

I offer a free 15-minute phone consult with you before your intake appointment. This will let us get to know each other a bit, make sure we are a good fit and share information about ourselves and how we might approach your case. It also allows me time to answer any questions you may have.

Cancelation policy

Please cancel/reschedule 24 hours in advance. If you cancel with less than 24 hours’ notice or do not show for your appointment, you will be required to pay the full cost of the session.

What happens after I schedule an appointment?

After your scheduled appointment, I will send you our intake paperwork packet. This includes important documents like the informed consent for counseling, your privacy rights and responsibilities, and our practice policies as well as a Good Faith Estimate of services. We also send forms to get to know more about you and a form to enter your credit card information. These are all documents that you “sign” online and will have access to a copy in your client portal. We ask that you return these documents within 24 hours.

All parts of the intake packet must be completed in full prior to your first appointment.

Good Faith Estimate

Under Section 2799B-6 of the Public Health Service Act, health care providers and health care facilities are required to inform individuals who are not enrolled in a plan or coverage or a Federal health care program, or not seeking to file a claim with their plan or coverage both orally and in writing of their ability, upon request or at the time of scheduling health care items and services, to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” of expected charges.

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost

Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.
